The Collaboratory is a platform that seeks to create and support a community of people across and around The New School interested in public, socially-engaged, collaborative, and transdisciplinary learning and scholarship.
The Projects and People sections of this site profile a series of school-related initiatives in the field and the actors (faculty, students and partners) involved in them. The Portfolios section will periodically curate content of selected projects to provide a deeper dive on their approaches, outcomes, and reflections. The Resources page will make available tools and frameworks useful to advancing socially engaged learning and public engagement. Finally, the Perspectives section will be the space where we zoom out and gather reflections that cut across projects or that examine these practices at large.
The Collaboratory website attempts to be a dynamic space that reflects the diversity of approaches, the challenges, and the complex nature of a field still in the making. We invite you to participate by submitting a project, a resource, a comment, or simply by exploring the website and reflecting on the very notions of public scholarship, collaboration, transdisciplinarity, and socially-engaged learning.
